0459 GMT - OpenAI's partnerships with Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices could have "ripple effects" that extend across the semiconductor-value chain, boosting some Asian names, say DBS Group Research analysts in a note. The partnerships underscore rising demand for diversifying graphics processing unit supply as AI adoption broadens across data-center operators and enterprises. They could also reinforce AI as a key growth engine for the semiconductor sector. Foundries such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. are likely to be second-order beneficiaries, they say. Meanwhile, Singapore companies UMS Integration and Frencken Group offer exposure to rising AI semiconductor equipment demand, while AEM also provides AI hardware exposure, they add. All four companies are trading broadly higher. News Corp, owner of The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires, has a content-licensing partnership with OpenAI. (megan.cheah@wsj.com)
