In company news, AppLovin (APP) is facing a Securities and Exchange Commission investigation into its data-collection practices, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing people with knowledge of the matter. The SEC probe comes in response to a whistleblower complaint filed earlier this year and short-seller complaints that AppLovin breached service agreements by pushing more-targeted advertising to consumers, the people reportedly told Bloomberg. AppLovin shares were up 7% around midday.
Toyota Motor (TM), Ford Motor (F) and Stellantis (STLA) face potential production disruptions stemming from a recent fire at Novelis' Oswego aluminum plant in New York, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter and filings. Ford is the plant's biggest user, and the company is expected to flag the fire's possible impacts on its F-150 pickup production in its quarterly financial report, due later this month, the report said. Ford shares were down 7.3%, while those of Toyota and Stellantis were up 0.4% and 2.0%, respectively.
PayPal (PYPL) said Tuesday it's launching an ads manager platform that will allow small businesses that use PayPal to profit from their existing store traffic. PayPal shares were up 3.7%.
Tesla (TSLA) is expected to unveil a lower-cost version of its Model Y sport utility vehicle Tuesday, Reuters reported Tuesday. Tesla shares were down 2.0%.
International Business Machines (IBM) and Amazon.com-backed (AMZN) Anthropic said Tuesday they are forming a partnership through which Anthropic's Claude -- a family of large language models -- will be integrated into IBM software products. IBM shares were up 3.2%, while those of Amazon were up 0.1%.
Dell Technologies (DELL) said Tuesday it has raised its annual revenue growth target to a range of 7% to 9% from 3% to 4%. The company also lifted its annual non-GAAP diluted earnings per share growth forecast to 15% or better from 8% or better. Dell also made a dividend growth commitment of 10% or more annually through FY 2030, up from its previous commitment through FY 2028. Dell shares were up 0.8%.
Mars' proposed acquisition of Kellanova (K) is set to receive unconditional approval from EU antitrust regulators, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing three sources with direct knowledge of the matter. Kellanova shares were up 0.3%.
Boeing (BA) is set to win conditional approval from EU antitrust regulators for its $4.7 billion acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems (SPR), Reuters reported Tuesday, citing people with direct knowledge of the matter. The approved plan is expected to include sales of some of Spirit's businesses, the report said. Boeing shares were up 0.2%, while those of Spirit were up 0.1%.
