Recent times haven't been great for Veris as its revenue has been rising slower than most other companies.   It seems that many are expecting the uninspiring revenue performance to persist, which has repressed the growth of the P/S ratio.  If you still like the company, you'd be hoping revenue doesn't get any worse and that you could pick up some stock while it's out of favour. Veris' P/S ratio would be typical for a company that's only expected to deliver limited growth, and importantly, perform worse than the industry.   Retrospectively, the last year delivered a decent 5.0% gain to the company's revenues.   The latest three year period has also seen a 5.3% overall rise in revenue, aided somewhat by its short-term performance.  Therefore, it's fair to say the revenue growth recently has been respectable for the company. Meanwhile, the rest of the industry is forecast to expand by 4.6% per annum, which is not materially different.  In light of this, it's peculiar that Veris' P/S sits below the majority of other companies.  It may be that most investors are not convinced the company can achieve future growth expectations.    The Final Word  Generally, our preference is to limit the use of the price-to-sales ratio to establishing what the market thinks about the overall health of a company.  Our examination of Veris' revealed that its P/S remains low despite analyst forecasts of revenue growth matching the wider industry.  Despite average revenue growth estimates, there could be some unobserved threats keeping the P/S low.  At least the risk of a price drop looks to be subdued, but investors seem to think future revenue could see some volatility.
