1000 GMT - EssilorLuxottica's push into the smart-glasses market is facing challenges from more competitors, falling prices and a change in distribution chain, AlphaValue analyst Louis Billon writes in a note. The Ray-Ban maker has entered the smart-eyewear market by partnering with tech giant Meta. "Many new players are entering the market," the analyst says, adding that Chinese manufacturers can produce glasses similar to Ray-Ban Meta for 25 euros. But the category seems to be far less margin-dilutive than investors think, he adds. "Many in the industry worry that as smart glasses become more connected and tech-driven, opticians could lose their central role." Billon says these professionals are key to the distribution of other product lines of EssilorLuxottica. Shares rise 0.3%. (andrea.figueras@wsj.com)
