智通财经APP获悉，由于电动汽车销量下滑，福特(F.US)将推迟从澳大利亚生产商Liontown Resources购买锂金属，而锂是电动汽车电池的主要成分。该矿业公司在一份交易所文件中披露，这家汽车制造商在 2027 年和 2028 年将无法从Liontown的Kathleen Valley项目中获得任何锂资源。未来交付给福特的货物量也将减半至 256,250 吨，作为交换，Liontown将把其 3 亿美元贷款到期应偿还给福特的款项推迟一年支付。
该矿企表示：“这份采购协议的变更使Liontown得以进一步向市场投放更多矿石，包括使其能够向现货市场额外出售一定数量的矿石，以推动透明定价，或者寻求新的战略合作伙伴关系。”
另外有消息称，福特改变了原计划，该计划原本是允许经销商在 9 月 30 日补贴到期后为电动汽车租赁业务提供 7500 美元的税收优惠。一位发言人表示：“福特不会申请电动汽车税收优惠，但会维持我们目前在市场上提供的具有竞争力的租赁费用。”通用汽车(GM.US)也在周三宣布了类似举措。
