Chinese Pharmaceutical Stocks Drop as Investors Take Profit -- Market Talk

0400 GMT - Chinese pharmaceutical stocks weaken in Hong Kong, likely to due to profit-taking. Sichuan Kelun-Biotech Biopharmaceutical is down 8.1%, Simcere Pharmaceutical Group declines 3.7% and CSPC Pharmaceutical Group is 2.85% lower. "Overall it's profit-taking and possibly rotation to tech [stocks] after a massive rally year-to-date," said Jefferies' Cui Cui. China's pharmaceutical stocks have enjoyed a strong rally this year, with Sichuan Kelun rising more than 200% since the beginning of the year. CSPC's shares have nearly doubled and Simcere's shares are up 80% year to date. (tracy.qu@wsj.com)
