日本自民党新任总裁高市早苗驳斥了她偏向日元进一步走弱的说法。在她胜选之后，日元快速下跌。
“我无意引发日元过度疲软。但根据经验，我认为疲弱的日元有利有弊，”高市在接受电视台采访时表示，“考虑到对特朗普关税的担忧，对于以出口为重点的公司来说，这提供了一种缓冲。”
她还试图淡化她一年前的言论，即日本央行加息是愚蠢之举。
当被问及若日本央行在年底前加息，她是否认为是“愚蠢”的做法时，高市笑道：“哎呀，拜托别提这个了。我知道我没有立场对加息发表评论。”
上述言论发布后，日元兑美元一度走强，但随后回吐涨幅。
高市的言论似乎旨在缓解市场担忧 —— 投资者担心，她支持刺激政策的立场可能放缓日本央行的加息步伐，并导致财政政策更加宽松。
