1242 ET - Homebuilders are getting more visits to their website, suggesting buyer interest is picking up as mortgage rates fall, but they have yet to see that traffic convert into sales, says Oppenheimer analyst Tyler Batory. Organic traffic to builder sites is up 29% year-to-date, according to Homebuilderdata.com, but conversions are down 13%, due to continued affordability challenges. But the strong traffic is a positive indicator for future sales, potentially as soon as next spring, with consumers tending to research for 150 to 200 days before buying. Lennar and KBHome recently said in their earnings calls they are seeing strong traffic but sales have not yet followed. (nicholas.miller@wsj.com)
