U.S. Futures, European Stocks Rise

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.4% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.3%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.8% in morning trading. Christian Dior added 11.7% and LVMH Moet Hennessy rose 11.6%. On the other hand, Aurubis lost 6.5%, and Renk Group dropped 5%. The FTSE 100 was flat. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 increased 2.4% and Germany's DAX climbed 0.2%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index fell 0.2% to 96.12.

In commodities, Brent crude dropped 0.4% to $62.14 a barrel, and WTI crude fell 0.3% to $58.51 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was down 0.5% to 31.64 euros a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield declined by 3 basis points to 2.585% from 2.612%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury fell by 3 basis points to 4.004% from 4.033%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were up as Japan's Nikkei 225 index gained 1.8%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 2.1%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite climbed 1.2%.
