Baidu's Ad Revenue Likely to Remain Soft -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Oct 14

0525 GMT - Baidu's ad revenue will likely continue to weigh on its earnings as the Chinese tech company transforms its search results with AI-generated content, Citi analysts say in a research note. Baidu's 3Q core ad revenue likely dropped 23% on year, while its AI cloud revenue is expected to have risen 20%, they say. Overall, the analysts expect Baidu to report in-line quarterly results, and any positive surprises are likely to come from better-than-expected Baidu core ad revenue and operating profit. They expect the ad-revenue drag to continue in 4Q, projecting a 19% decline. Citi maintains a buy call but raises the target price to $166.00 from $143.00 following recent share-price gains. Baidu's ADRs last ended at $125.72. (sherry.qin@wsj.com)
