Ford Motor (F) and Stellantis (STLA) are several carmakers facing trial in a UK court over "dieselgate" emissions claims, law firm Leigh Day said Friday.
Mercedes-Benz Group, Renault, Nissan Motor and Stellantis-owned brands Peugeot and Citroen are named in the suit. The three-month trial, which began Monday, will examine allegations that some vehicles sold by the carmakers from 2009 had software known as "cheat devices" or "prohibited defeat devices" to manipulate official emissions tests, according to the law firm.
Leigh Day said it is working with 21 other law firms on behalf of the 1.6 million vehicle owners involved in the mass claim.
Ford Motor, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Nissan and Stellantis didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
Ford shares rose 1.2% in recent Monday trading, and Stellantis gained 3.5%.
