汽车贷款机构Tricolor Holdings和汽车零件供应商First Brands Group倒下，令投资者胆颤心惊，但他们周二未能从美国最大银行的负责人口中得到太多安慰。

　　摩根大通首席执行官戴蒙在与分析师的电话会议上表示，当这样的事情发生时，他就会提高警觉。他指出，可能不该这么说，但当你看到一只蟑螂时，可能还会有更多。每个人都应该对此预先获得警告。

　　这两起破产事件对信贷市场造成了冲击，企业一直在以创纪录的速度借款，同时向投资者提供超额回报。戴蒙所属的银行刚刚公布了业绩，预计再迎来创纪录的一年；但他表示，当经济情势恶化时，面临的痛苦可能会比以往更大。

　　他说，“我猜想，经济低迷时，某些类别的信贷损失会高于正常水平”。他指出，看看商业发展公司（BDC）及它们公开交易之私人信贷工具的价格，做好功课。

　　即使摩根大通、花旗、富国银行和高盛等大型银行公布的第三季财报季营收超出分析师预期。但部分银行高层却轮番示警，提及贷款业务可能面临问题，或指出经济疲软的迹象，包括劳动力市场疲软。虽然业绩表现推高了花旗和富国银行的股价，但悲观的口气和不断上涨的薪资成本导致摩根大通和高盛股价下跌。
