英特尔宣布新款GPU
凤凰网科技讯 北京时间10月15日，据路透社报道，英特尔周二宣布了一款用于数据中心的新型AI芯片，将在明年推出，标志着该公司正再度发力进军AI芯片市场。
英特尔首席技术官萨钦·卡蒂(Sachin Katti)在周二的开放计算峰会上表示，这款新的图形处理器(GPU)将针对能效进行优化，可支持包括运行AI应用程序或推理在内的各种应用场景。
“它体现了我先前提到的重点：推理计算。它针对AI进行了优化，致力于实现最优的token经济学与最佳性价比。”卡蒂表示。
这款新芯片名为“新月岛”(Crescent Island)，是陷入困境的英特尔的最新尝试，旨在从AI投资热潮中获利。该浪潮已为AMD与英伟达创造了数以十亿美元计的营收。“新月岛”芯片基于英特尔用于其消费级GPU的设计架构，将搭载160GB低速内存，这种内存速度比AMD和英伟达数据中心AI芯片所使用的高带宽内存(HBM)要慢。
卡蒂表示，英特尔今后将每年推出新的数据中心AI芯片，这一发布节奏将与AMD、英伟达以及多家自研芯片的云计算公司保持一致。
“我们不会再试图为所有类型的工作负载打造芯片，而是将越来越专注于推理计算。”卡蒂表示。
不过，英特尔并未透露“新月岛”芯片将采用何种制程工艺。英特尔尚未就此置评。(作者/箫雨)
