Shopify Is Keeping the Momentum Going in 3Q -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Oct 17

1154 GMT - Shopify appears not to have lost its stride in the third quarter, which RBC's Paul Treiber thinks could mean a beat to expectations. Shopify's growth momentum and market share gains continued through 3Q, the analyst says citing data from several third-party sources. This will likely lead to 3Q results and 4Q guidance to come slightly ahead of consensus expectations, he adds. In particular, he says data points indicate healthy merchant growth and market share gains, with total merchants likely up 13% year-over-year and Shopify Plus up 21%, consistent with 2Q. The data also shows that Shopify has been gaining share compared with key competitors, and clocking more enterprise wins, including Dickies, Forever 21 and Aldo. (adriano.marchese@wsj.com)
