据香港电台等多家港媒报道，10月20日，阿联酋迪拜赴港货机疑似冲出跑道与地勤车相撞，机身坠入海中，已致2人死亡，其中地勤车30岁乘客救起后当场证实不治，40多岁司机送医后死亡。香港机场管理局（下称机管局）将于早上10时会见传媒交代情况。
根据机管局网页，货机原定预计抵港时间为凌晨4时03分。另据报道，涉事货机为波音747-481（BDSF）机型，注册编号为TC-ACF。
港府新闻公报于6时26分曾通报相关事故：香港国际机场今日（十月二十日）凌晨约三时五十分发生一宗事故。一架由阿联酋阿勒马克图姆国际机场抵港的B744货机（航班编号UAE9788）在北跑道降落后出现偏离情况滑出海面。空管人员已即时按既定机制通知机场管理局及其他救援单位。
初步资料显示，机上四名机组人员已获救送医院，另外两名地面工作人员受事故影响堕海，情况有待确定。北跑道因事件关闭，南跑道及中跑道将继续维持运作。
民航处高度关注此次事件，正与有关机场单位包括相关航空公司跟进，并已根据既定程序将有关情况通报民航意外调查机构，全力配合调查事故成因。
