-- Spanish telecommunications group Telefonica is considering strengthening its cooperation with Germany's United Internet, German newspaper Handelsblatt said, citing unnamed sources.

-- Both companies are discussing strengthening the partnership between Telefonica Deutschland and 1&1, the mobile and fixed-line subsidiary of United Internet, according to Handelsblatt.

-- In Madrid, a takeover is also being considered in the long-term, with talks still in early stages, Handelsblatt said.

-- United Internet declined to comment to Handelsblatt.
