Sembcorp Industries (SGX:U96) subsidiary Sembcorp Utilities, along with Sarawak Energy, secured approval to import renewable energy from Sarawak to Singapore, according to a Friday filing with the Singapore Exchange.

The conditional approval was granted by the Energy Market Authority of Singapore (EMA) to import around 1GW of energy.

The project is expected to commence around 2035 and will see electricity transmitted to Singapore through a network of subsea cables of around 700km.
