Singapore's Volatile NODX Shows Rapidly Shifting Trade Environment -- Market Talk

0315 GMT - Singapore's volatile monthly NODX data reflects the rapidly shifting global economic and trade environment, says OCBC chief economist Selena Ling in a note. NODX unexpectedly grew 6.9% on year in September, marking a turnaround from two straight months' of weakness. "With the re-escalation of U.S.-China trade tensions of late, we should probably brace for more stops and starts in this roller-coaster ride," Ling says. Market sentiment is also likely to be weighed by factors including the recent debacle over rare earths, she says. OCBC expects Singapore's 2025 NODX growth to expand close to 2.5%.(amanda.lee@wsj.com)
