BrainChip Holdings to Begin Tape-Out Process for AKD1500 Chip for Volume Production

BrainChip Holdings (ASX:BRN) said it will start the tape-out process, the final stage of the design process, for its AKD1500 chip reference design for volume production in response to customer and market demand, according to a Monday Australian bourse filing.
The firm expects the first units from the production mask set to be available by the third quarter of 2026. The production mask set, related fabrication and testing costs amount to around $2.3 million, per the filing.
The chip delivers high performance at milliwatt power levels, for use in real-time edge processing and on-device learning in battery-powered devices, per the filing.
BrainChip's shares fell over 2% in recent trading on Monday.
