0921 ET - Rogers Communications says it is committed to acquiring the remaining non-controlling interest in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment which is held by Larry Tanenbaum. After buying telecom peer BCE's 37.5% stake in MLSE, Rogers says it expects to exercise its right to acquire the remaining 25% interest, which it says "would be a key step in consolidating value in these assets." The assets in question include the slew of Toronto sports franchise teams such as the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors and Toronto FC. At the same time, Rogers says its evaluating options for MLSE, such as selling a minority interest in some or all of its sports and other media assets to third-party investors or consolidating the assets in a separate company to be taken public.
