Prada's Sales Beat Helped by Strong Wholesale Performance -- Market Talk

1422 GMT - Prada's quarterly sales growth exceeded expectations, driven mostly by a stronger-than-expected performance in the wholesale channel, analysts at Bernstein write in a research note. The Italian luxury-fashion house booked an organic sales increase of 8.5% for the third quarter compared with the prior-year period. This was ahead of consensus estimates of a 7.4% increase, Bernstein says. The group's core namesake brand delivered a slight beat, while the Miu Miu label came largely in-line with expectations, they add. Wholesale revenue growth stood at nearly 19% compared with consensus at 2.7%, while retail sales came in line with views, the analysts say. Shares closed at 46.30 Hong Kong dollars on Thursday.
