Trilogy Metals said regulatory permits have been reissued to build a road connecting its properties to the main highway network in Alaska.

Trilogy Metals said Friday that the Ambler Access Project, a proposed 211-mile industrial road in Northwest Alaska that would connect the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects to the Dalton Highway, has received federal authorizations required to advance the road project.

This road is key to beginning development in the Ambler Mining District, which hosts copper polymetallic deposits.

The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority has now secured right-of-way permits from federal agencies including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the National Park Service, and the Bureau of Land Management. The permits re-establish federal authorization for the road following a presidential directive earlier this month.

Earlier in October, the U.S. Defense Department agreed to buy a roughly 10% stake in the company, investing $35.6 million for the development of critical mineral resources at the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects, jointly owned by Trilogy and South 32.

With the permits now in hand, AIDEA will begin planning next steps, including updated engineering and budgeting for the road project.
