Top Midday Stories: GM Shares Rise on Earnings Beat, Raised Guidance; Blackstone, TPG to Acquire Hologic

The Dow Jones and the S&P 500 were up, while the Nasdaq Composite was flat in late-morning trading Tuesday, as markets digested another round of large-cap earnings reports.

In company news, General Motors (GM) reported Q3 adjusted earnings Tuesday of $2.80 per diluted share, down from $2.96 a year earlier but above the FactSet consensus estimate of $2.29. Third-quarter revenue was $48.59 billion, down from $48.76 billion a year ago but above the FactSet consensus of $45.04 billion. For full-year 2025, the automaker raised its adjusted EPS guidance to a range of $9.75 to $10.50 from $8.25 to $10. GM shares were up 15.6% around midday.

Hologic (HOLX) said Tuesday it has agreed to be acquired by funds managed by Blackstone (BX) and TPG (TPG) in a deal worth up to $18.3 billion, or up to $79 per share. The deal is expected to close in H1 2026. Hologic shares were up 3.2%, while those of Blackstone and TPG were up 0.8% and 1.3%, respectively.

Coca-Cola (KO) reported fiscal Q3 comparable earnings Tuesday of $0.82 per diluted share, up from $0.77 a year earlier and above the FactSet consensus of $0.78. Fiscal Q3 net operating revenue was $12.46 billion, up from $11.85 billion a year ago and above the FactSet consensus of $12.41 billion. Coca-Cola shares were up 3.7%.

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) said Tuesday its board has initiated a review of strategic alternatives amid the unsolicited interest it has received from multiple parties for both the entire company and Warner Bros. Netflix (NFLX) and Comcast (CMCSA) are among the companies interested in Warner Bros. Discovery's TV and movie studios, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter. Warner Bros. shares were up 11%, while those of Netflix and Comcast were up 0.3% and 0.8%, respectively.

Danaher (DHR) reported fiscal Q3 adjusted net earnings Tuesday of $1.89 per diluted share, up from $1.71 a year earlier. Fiscal Q3 sales were $6.05 billion, up from $5.80 billion a year ago and above the FactSet consensus estimate of $6.00 billion. Danaher shares were up 7.4%.
