1244 ET - Mattel could solidly hit its 4Q outlook if current sales momentum continues throughout the all-important holiday shopping season, JPMorgan analysts say in a research note. "That said, given the risk that some replenishment shifts to 1Q and considering how tight inventory is being managed, we are sitting at the low end of the sales range for the year," they write. The maker of Hot Wheels cars plans to ramp up promotional efforts to drive sales during the holidays, as its Barbie franchise is lagging with innovation. The company is also facing a weaker entertainment slate compared with last year, when films including "Moana 2" and "Wicked" helped drive toy sales, the analysts say. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
