Danone's Strong Sales Offer a Boost to Consumer Staples Sector -- Market Talk
Dow Jones
Oct 28
0921 GMT - Danone's strong sales growth for the third quarter--up 4.8% on a like-for-like basis--indicates that the consumer staples model isn't broken, RBC analysts James Edwardes Jones and Wassachon Udomsilpa say. The French food company's investment in products, focus on execution, and practical expectations still bear fruit, they write in a note to clients. In China, the 13.8% like-for-like growth drove its earnings beat, the analysts say. In North America, growth slowed to 1.5%, but its coffee creamer business is turning around, they add. Shares are down 0.2% at 77.86 euros. (aimee.look@wsj.com)
