European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were moving higher late Wednesday morning, rising 0.34% to 1,607.10 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.
From continental Europe, the gainers were led by medical device maker EDAP (EDAP) and telecommunications company Ericsson (ERIC), which climbed 16.9% and 4.1% respectively. They were followed by lender Banco Santander (SAN) and health technology company Royal Philips (PHG), which advanced 3.5% and 1.4% respectively.
The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies (DBVT) and biotech firm Evaxion (EVAX), which fell 5.3% and 5.1% respectively. They were followed by semiconductor company Sequans Communications (SQNS) and software firm SAP (SAP), which were down 4% and 3.2% respectively.
From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by pharmaceutical company GSK (GSK) and mining company BHP Group (BHP), which rose 6% and 2.3% respectively. They were followed by biotech firm Trinity Biotech (TRIB) and oil and gas company Shell (SHEL), which were up 2% and 1% respectively.
The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX) and Amarin (AMRN), which shed 12.5% and 5% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies Mereo BioPharma Group (MREO) and NuCana (NCNA), which dropped 3.1% and 2.9% respectively.
