智通财经APP获悉，欧洲能源巨头英国石油公司(BP.US)周四表示，在初步分析支持先前关于该区块蕴藏大量液体石油资源的观点后，该石油公司将加速推进从位于巴西近海桑托斯盆地的Bumerangue区块开采石油的计划。
英国石油在一份声明中表示，已将Bumerangue区块发现描述为其25年来潜在的最大规模油气田开发项目;该公司表示，早期分析数据极具鼓舞力量，并显示存在一个非常庞大的烃柱。
英国石油还表示，储层中升高的二氧化碳含量可以得到有效控制与管理。对于英国石油等油气领军者们而言，较高的二氧化碳含量可能使油气田的开发在经济以及环保政策上严重不可行。
该公司正在为该区块寻找能源项目合作伙伴，目前其持股为100%，但巴西国家石油公司(Petrobras，PBR)的一位前任负责人表示，该油田的经济开发可行性取决于其具体的二氧化碳含量。
英国石油在声明中表示：“鉴于整个区块的烃柱中均存在液体态烃，以及最新观察到的高质量岩性特征，以及英国石油在油气田技术与深水开发方面的广泛经验，管理层非常相信储层中的二氧化碳可以得到充分管理。”
