Caterpillar's third-quarter profit drops on weak US construction activity, tariffs

Oct 29 (Reuters) - Caterpillar CAT.N reported a lower third-quarter profit on Wednesday, hit by weak construction activity in the U.S. and tariffs imposed by the Trump administration.

The company, seen as a bellwether for the global industrial economy, reported an adjusted per share profit of $4.95, down from $5.17 a year earlier.
