因美国铸币局提前结束生产一美分硬币，美国近日出现“零钱荒”现象。事件缘于今年2月，美国总统特朗普下令财政部停止生产一美分硬币，指其“成本高于价值，是浪费纳税人金钱”。根据美国铸币局数据，每枚分币的生产成本高达3.7美分，远超本身面值。美国铸币局原定至2026年才停产，但最后一批一仙硬币原料已在今年夏天用完，所以决定提早结束长达 232年的生产历史。目前美国约有 2500亿枚一美分硬币流通。 美国银行家协会(ABA)指出，一美分硬币问题并非供应不足，而是流通失衡，大量硬币被民众放在家中玻璃罐与抽屉里尘封，令市面可用硬币数目减少。 目前，多家连锁品牌纷纷以各自方式解决“零钱荒”的燃眉之急。部分超市鼓励回流，顾客可携带家中一美分硬币兑换礼品卡；克罗格及家得宝则要求顾客尽量以刚好金额付款，减少找钱需要。麦当劳部分分店已因一美分硬币短缺，开始将现金交易金额四舍五入至五美分，即账单将自动上调或下调两美分。
