Star Plus Legend (HKG:6683) invested $8 million for a 16% interest in an industry fund managed by an entity wholly owned by its chief executive officer, according to a Monday Hong Kong bourse filing.
The $50 million fund was the lead investor in the pre-IPO financing of Galaxy Corporation, a Korean entertainment company managing artists including G-Dragon and Kim Jong-kook, the filing said.
The fund has taken a stake of no more than 7% in Galaxy's issued share capital, it added.
Star Plus Legend said the investment will help the group create synergies with portfolio companies in content co-production, licensing, and IP development while avoiding material liquidity risks.
