Hindalco Estimates Up to $650 Million Fiscal 2026 Cash Flow Hit From Novelis Oswego Fire; Shares Fall 5%

Hindalco Industries (NSE:HINDALCO, BOM:500440) said Novelis estimates a free cash flow impact of $550 to $650 million in fiscal 2026 from the Sept. 16 fire at its Oswego, New York plant, according to a Wednesday filing.

Shares of Hindalco fell over 5% in Thursday's trade.

This includes an adjusted EBITDA impact of $100 to $150 million, the company said in the filing.

About 70% to 80% of the losses are expected to be recovered through insurance in future periods, it added.

The company recognized $21 million in related charges in the second quarter of current fiscal year and expects to restart the hot mill by end-December, followed by a four to six week production ramp-up, according to the filing.
