Cummins Provides Backup Power for Increasing Number of Data Centers -- Market Talk
Dow Jones

0951 ET - Cummins says sales across its power systems unit jumped 18%, to $2 billion, during the recent quarter, driven in part by what CEO Jennifer Rumsey calls continually rising demand for backup power for data centers. This trend is particularly apparent in large data-center markets including North America, India and China, the company says. Strength across Cummins' power systems business helped offset soft demand and uncertainty across a number of the company's other end markets, which dampened sales and profit in 3Q. Cummins climbs 7% in early trading. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
