ADM Looks to Crush More Soybeans as Margins Shrink -- Market Talk

1105 ET - Archer Daniels Midland's facilities may be working harder as 4Q progresses due to lower profitability for soybean crush -- facilities that turn soy into meal or oil. "The plants are ready to crush harder," says CEO Juan Luciano during an earnings call. Clarity regarding renewable fuel rules will help ADM determine production levels, says Luciano, adding that as of right now, demand for soybean oil is lax without clear guidelines on how much is needed by renewable fuels processors. "You have to remember that in crush, the big problem we have is this oil leg that is relatively soft right now that will be addressed by the RVOs whenever they are ready," he says. CBOT soybeans fall 1.7%. (kirk.maltais@wsj.com)
