Cogent Communications Shares Slide After 3Q Revenue Miss

Cogent Communications shares sank after the Internet provider posted a decline in revenue.

The stock dropped a third of its value, falling to $25.46 Thursday and at one point touching a 52-week low. Shares have shed 68% this year.

Revenue in the third quarter fell 6% to $241.9 million, below the $246 million Wall Street was projecting.

The company logged a loss of $41.5 million, or 87 cents a share, compared with a loss of $63.1 million, or $1.33 a share, the year before. Analysts polled by FactSet expected a loss of $1.10 a share.

Cogent said it will temporarily pause its stock buyback program.

Cogent also said it entered into a letter of interest for the sale of two data centers for $144 million in cash.
