Ribbon Communications Completes Optical Transmission Field Trial on Juno Trans-Pacific Cable

Ribbon Communications (RBBN) said Wednesday it has completed a 20 terabits-per-second optical transmission field trial on the 10,000-kilometer Juno trans-Pacific submarine cable.
Juno will become the largest trans-Pacific cable system between Japan and the US, delivering over 350 terabits-per-second of total capacity across 20 fiber pairs, the company said.
The cable was developed and is operated by Seren Juno, a joint venture based in Tokyo.
Ribbon Communications' shares were up by nearly 2% in recent trading.
