Volkswagen Group is set to launch a new electric SUV in China next year, co-developed with Xpeng (HKG:9868), the South China Morning Post reported.

The model, named the ID Unyx 08, was included in a list of approved electric vehicles published by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Monday, paving the way for production to begin, according to the report.

Volkswagen said the SUV, to be assembled with Anhui Jianghuai Automobile (SHA:600418), will be its most intelligent model yet and is scheduled to hit the market in 2026, SCMP reported.
