Stocks to Watch Thursday: Cisco, Disney, Applied Materials -- WSJ

Cisco Systems $(CSCO)$: The network-equipment company raised its earnings outlook, helped by demand for artificial-intelligence products. Shares jumped over 6% in premarket trading.

Walt Disney $(DIS)$: The entertainment conglomerate is due to report earnings this morning, shedding light on how the brief suspension of Jimmy Kimmel's late-night show affected subscriptions.

Applied Materials (AMAT): The chipmaking-equipment maker's results are due this afternoon and will be closely eyed for insight into AI spending.

JBS $(JBS)$: The world's largest meatpacker is also due to report earnings late Thursday. The Brazilian company made its New York Stock Exchange debut in June.

Tencent (HK:700): China's largest company by market capitalization reported stronger-than-expected, double-digit growth in quarterly profit and revenue. Shares in the WeChat operator were little changed.

Newmont $(NEM)$: Shares in the gold miner rose premarket, after gaining 3.5% on Wednesday, helped by a precious-metal price rally.

Siemens (XE:SIE): The German industrial conglomerate logged a net profit that missed expectations, and said it would cut its stake in Siemens Healthineers (XE:SHL). Shares in both companies dropped.
