当地时间11月13日，美国40多个城市的1000多名星巴克工会咖啡师发起无限期罢工，要求星巴克就薪酬及其他福利达成集体谈判协议。星巴克工人联合会表示，此次罢工将从65家门店开始，已准备好让这次罢工成为星巴克历史上最大规模、持续时间最长的罢工。此次罢工恰逢星巴克“红杯日”，即星巴克繁忙的促销活动日。星巴克发言人对此表示，公司感到“失望”，仅代表约4%员工的工会投票决定授权罢工，而非重返谈判桌。“当他们准备好回归时，我们随时愿意对话。”星巴克发言人还说，星巴克已提供零售业最佳岗位，包括按小时计酬员工平均时薪加福利超过30美元，“任何协议都需要反映现实”。
