US Cash Grains-Corn, soybean basis steady-firm at processors, river elevators

CHICAGO, Nov 12 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans delivered to U.S. Midwest processing plants and barge-loading river elevators were mostly steady to higher on Wednesday, supported by slow farmer selling, brokers said.

  • The spot soybean basis bid rose by 5 cents a bushel at a crush plant in Decatur, Indiana, and by 5 cents at a river elevator in Savanna, Illinois.

  • An ethanol plant in Union City, Indiana, raised its spot corn basis bid by 2 cents a bushel, while a Savanna, Illinois, river terminal lifted its bid by 5 cents.

  • Farmer selling was minimal on Wednesday as prices remain below recent highs and growers await a U.S. Department of Agriculture crop supply and demand report due on Friday.

  • The USDA is expected to cut its U.S. corn and soybean production estimates in the report.
