美国众议院民主党人周三公布的文件显示，一位前财政部长和一位华尔街顶级律师都曾在与性罪犯杰弗里·爱泼斯坦通电邮时吐槽总统唐纳德·特朗普。
在2017年10月的一次邮件往来中，劳伦斯·H·萨默斯向爱泼斯坦预言，特朗普的“世界将崩塌”。萨默斯曾于1999年-2001年担任美国财长，2001年-2006年担任哈佛大学校长。众议院监督与政府改革委员会周三公布了20，000多页属于爱泼斯坦遗产的文件，其中就包括上述邮件。该委员会中的民主党人贴出了一些跟特朗普有关系的节选内容。
特朗普已经承认在上世纪90年代和本世纪初与爱泼斯坦是朋友，但他表示自己对爱泼斯坦的任何性犯罪行为都不知情。特朗普周三在社交媒体上发帖称，民主党人“又想借杰弗里·爱泼斯坦的事泼脏水，因为他们会不择手段，以转移人们对他们在政府停摆及其他诸多问题上的糟糕表现的注意力。”
白宫新闻秘书Karoline Leavitt在声明中说：“民主党人选择性地向自由派媒体泄露电邮，以编造虚假叙事、抹黑总统特朗普。”
高盛的Ruemmler在2017年与爱泼斯坦通信时，是律所Latham & Watkins的律师。“特朗普太令人恶心了，”她在是年2月给他写信说。“在现实生活中近距离接触更糟，”爱泼斯坦回复道。
