杜克大学将把原本仅面向女性学者的项目开放给男性申请，此举符合特朗普要求终止多元化、公平与包容（DEI）政策的方针。
据该校学生报《The Chronicle》报道，创立于2004年的鲍德温学者项目（Baldwin Scholars Program）今后将接受所有本科生的申请。
此项变动正值特朗普政府继续在全国高校打击DEI相关举措之际。近期，政府向多所顶尖大学致信，提出一份协议草案，其中包括限制国际学生人数、禁止在招聘中考虑种族或性别因素、未来五年冻结学费，以及要求招生过程中恢复标准化考试以换取获得联邦资金的优先通道。
今年7月，特朗普政府官员宣布将对杜克大学及《杜克法律期刊》展开调查，指控该校在选拔期刊成员时“以种族、肤色和/或国籍为依据”存在歧视。
