Aspial's (SGX:A30) subsidiary, WCL (QLD) Albert St, moved to commence proceedings in the court of Queensland, Australia, against the State of Queensland and the Registrar of Titles, according to a Thursday filing with the Singapore Exchange.

The dispute is in connection with two lots of land in Brisbane, with the subsidiary seeking compensation for loss and damage of around AU$51 million plus interest.

The company had received an approval to develop the lots into a residential development.

However, in 2019, WCL faced a claim from a neighboring property owner, following which the supreme court decided that one of the lots was not a freehold land.

It was later established that the lot was a freehold land but due to a series of errors made by the registrar of titles, the company was unable to proceed with the development and therefore incurred losses.
