Altair Minerals, BHP to Enter Private Mediation Over Proposed Development of South Australia Deposit; Altair's Shares Reach Four-Year High

Altair Minerals (ASX:ALR) and BHP Group (ASX:BHP) are set to enter into a private mediation to resolve a dispute over Altair's Olympic Domain project after Altair and BHP requested orders by consent and the South Australian Wardens Court made orders vacating a court hearing on Wednesday, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.

The Olympic Domain project adjoins BHP's Oak Dam deposit, and BHP proposed the use of Altair's project area for purposes of infrastructure and development of the deposit, per the filing.

Altair filed a response opposing the application by BHP Olympic Dam, saying BHP failed to satisfy the onus of establishing that Altair's rights will not be materially diminished, and served BHP with the response on Oct. 29.

The firms will engage in a private mediation on or before Dec. 12. The matter will be relisted for hearing on Dec. 22 in the Wardens Court.

Altair's shares jumped nearly 5% in recent trading on Thursday, reaching their highest point in over four years.
