Intel (INTC) said Wednesday that Chief Executive Lip-Bu Tan will oversee the chipmaker's artificial intelligence projects after chief technology officer departed for Microsoft-backed (MSFT) OpenAI.
Sachin Katti said in a social media post Monday he was joining OpenAI after four years at Intel.
"Lip-Bu will lead the AI and Advanced Technologies Groups, working closely with the team," Intel said in a statement e-mailed to MT Newswires. "AI remains one of Intel's highest strategic priorities, and we are focused on executing our technology and product roadmap across emerging AI workloads."
OpenAI did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
