这起纠纷发生在黄金价格持续走高的背景下。2025年上半年，上海黄金基准价上涨23%，而同期黄金首饰销售量却同比下降26%。一涨一跌的反差，成了近两年黄金市场的常态。2024年的数据也呈现出类似趋势，基准价上涨26%，首饰销量下降25%。金价高位波动时，消费者更倾向于选择溢价较低的金条金币，或是没有溢价的黄金ETF，而非黄金首饰。与黄金首饰25%左右的高溢价相比，实物金条的综合成本仅比基准价高约2%。
类似的金饰试戴纠纷并非个例。
