ChainCatcher 消息，据 CNBC 报道，随着冬季来临，部分美国人开始利用加密货币挖矿产生的热量为家庭供暖。数字资产经纪商 K33 分析显示，比特币挖矿行业每年产生约 100 TWh 的热量，足以满足芬兰全国的供暖需求，但大部分热量都被浪费。
市场上已出现售价 900 美元的设备，既可作为空间加热器又能进行比特币挖矿。在爱达荷州 Challis 镇，Softwarm 公司正在测试用比特币挖矿设备为当地商铺供暖。
不过，罗切斯特大学教授 Derek Mohr 对此表示质疑，认为家用电脑挖矿成功率极低，这种供暖方式效率不高。支持者则认为，随着即插即用挖矿设备的普及，这一概念在更多地区可能变得可行。
