Nasdaq-listed GlobalFoundries acquired Singapore-based silicon photonics foundry, Advanced Micro Foundry, according to a company release late Monday.
The acquisition allows GlobalFoundries to expand its portfolio and production capacity across the city-state.
Following the acquisition, the buyer also plans to establish a silicon photonics research and development center of excellence to advance its innovation roadmap.
