ChainCatcher 消息，据英国天空新闻报道，英国检方披露，26 岁英国男子 Joseph James O'Connor 黑入多位名人 X 账号骗比特币，被责令归还约 410 万英镑加密货币。2023 年，他在美国因计算机入侵、电汇欺诈和敲诈勒索等罪获刑五年。
2021 年，O'Connor 在西班牙被捕，后经该国高等法院裁定，由于证据和受害者均在美国，美国是最合适的起诉地，遂将其引渡至美国。2020 年 7 月，社交 X 平台遭大规模黑客攻击，奥巴马、拜登、贝索斯等名人账号沦陷。O'Connor 伙同他人利用这些被黑账号设下骗局，诱骗用户发送价值 1000 美元的比特币，并承诺双倍返还，借此窃取了价值超 79.4 万美元的加密货币，还对名人进行威胁。
本周一，英国皇家检察署称取得民事追偿令，查封 42 枚比特币等资产。该估值在冻结其财产后得出，引渡时检方就确保了冻结。
