Shares of Zevra Therapeutics were lower after the pharmaceutical company said its finance chief was stepping down to pursue other professional opportunities.

Shares were trading down 7.2% at $8.40 on Friday. The stock is roughly flat year-to-date.

Zevra said Thursday that CFO R. LaDuane Clifton was stepping down at the end of the year. Clifton has been with Zevra since 2015.

The company has launched a search to identify Clifton's successor, it said.

Zevra Chief Executive Officer Neil McFarlane said Clifton "leaves Zevra with a strong financial foundation to support the next phase of our growth."
