智通财经APP获悉，必和必拓集团(BHP.US)表示，已不再考虑与英美资源集团(Anglo American Plc)进行合并。
该公司在周一的声明中称，“目前已不再推进两家公司的合并事宜”。此前报道称，这家全球最大矿商已于近日向英美资源集团发出合并提议。
此次必和必拓调整决策的时间点，距英美资源与泰克资源(TECK.US)的股东就双方合并交易进行投票仅剩不到三周。该合并协议于今年9月宣布，计划组建一家合并后价值超600亿美元的新铜矿巨头。这一举措延续了大型矿企长达数年的并购热潮——热潮的核心驱动力是矿企扩大铜矿业务的诉求，而铜在电气化进程中的作用正变得日益关键。
10月初，必和必拓宣布，将斥资8.4亿澳元(约合5.54亿美元)用于扩建其位于南澳大利亚州的奥林匹克坝地下铜矿项目，以期提高这种关键导线金属的产量。
必和必拓预计，到2050年全球铜需求将增长70%，并已将铜列为核心增长业务。未来十年，该公司计划在智利投入超100亿美元，用于扩充当地项目组合;同时还将追加投资，在阿根廷和美国开发新矿山。
